Just a couple days ago we reported on Jeremy Renner’s comments about being disappointed in how his character, Hawkeye, was portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. It was then reported that his sour comments to the media pissed off Marvel Studios execs and that it was likely he would not return for any Phase 2 films and the character might even be recast. Well, throw those rumors in the dump, because Perez Hilton reports that Renner “is very much apart of the Marvel family” and will reprise his role in future installments to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Our sources tell us that the recasting rumors are completely untrue and that he will indeed return to the silver screen as Hawkeye! Phew! We’re told he’s still “very much a part of the Marvel family.”
Renner had just talked with the media days before saying he was disappointed in his role and that “At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I’m not the character I signed on to play. I’m literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden…”
So when will we see Renner as Hawkeye again? The Avengers 2 is the obvious answer, but what about a quick cameo like Bruce Banner at the end of Iron Man 3? Maybe we’ll see a cameo in Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Or maybe a solo Hawkeye film in Phase 3?
